about

The Textured Monotonies series is intended as a vehicle for my shorter (ie less than 16 mins) ambient-ish compositions. The first four albums in the series are selections of some favourite pieces from previous albums released between 2018 - 2022, and spanning many moods & atmospheres.

Textured Monotonies V is a selection of entirely new compositions, undulating their way through meditative ambience, neo-classical minimalism and experimental abstraction.

The opening track, Garden of H, is comprised of a single recording of my friend H improvising on her tongue-drum, which I duplicated and slowed to several different speeds. Ornithological is similarly composed of reversed versions of the same recording, at different speeds. Invisible Surfaces is largely composed of the sampled resonance of piano strings, through various textural mutations to create layered drones. Interial Martian and Eno For Goblins are sonic abstractions based on mutated samples from two earlier recordings, but far too restless to be ambient.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this collection of beautiful and enigmatic atmospheres.
