about

The first in what became a series of four albums using various fragments of old phone recordings, sound textures and looped ideas.

In June this year my bank account was hacked and the little money I had in there taken. The ensuing administrative jungle dealing with unwieldy corporate systems, offshore call centres, circular departmental shunting and endless hours on hold, in the midst of a particularly severe bout of depression, led me to contemplate the loop I seemed to be living within - the bardo, the liminal, the limbo of it. Two months later, I'm still awaiting resolution.

I created most of Red Tape Bardo I and II on my laptop while I was either on hold or waiting on a callback, using bits of old recordings from my archives. The concept flowed from there, and continued into III and IV.

Think of it as alternative hold music for your favourite unresponsive corporate administration call centre.
