about

Spontaneous emissions I've recorded on my phone over the years, intending to develop them at a later date. There being no 'later date' in the foreseeable future, I've collated them in their raw forms instead, as a series of brief moments, lived and gone.

The original raw tracks, acoustic and solo, use various ukuleles, acoustic guitar, kemenche, mandolin, with a few 'field recordings' of environmental textures interspersed. Most of them were recorded out on the deck at home, in various weather conditions, overlooking a forested valley awash with all shades of birdtalk and stillness. For this album, I've left several of these improvisations in their immediate & unrehearsed state, while others have had electronic twiddlings added here and there to provide extra texture.

While these recordings have accumulated randomly between 2018 - 2020, my train of thought in compiling them at this time has been propelled by philosopher / thinker Alan Watts and his masterful descriptions of the Tao / Zen experience.

And for the fun of it, I designed the tracklist so that it can be read as a poem - As Is Was.
