about

This was a quirky acoustic guitar duo I had going with Luke Yates from 2002 - 2006. This was our only official recording, which we did live in a couple of days at a friend's studio in Southern Tasmania, tucked away in a serene valley. Fingertangling original songs and instrumentals drawing on exotic flavours of gypsy, latin, eurofolk, near eastern & circus music - sparkling fingerstyle interplay and a slightly skewed humour. A press release at the time:

ONWARD!!! ONWARD!!!! SOUND THE FLUGELHORNS!!
SPONDOOLI BROTHERS DEBUT CD!!! ABANDON ALL GOATS!!!

Excerpt from a letter recently received, loosely translated from the original Spondoolitch:
“We of Spondooli Brotherhood are having much pleasures to tell your families of our new modern CD record, which is stories of our strange journey for us to come to your fine country of Tasmaniztan. We are humble to hope you like these music & may your goats grow many socks. Spondooli Bros”

THE SPONDOOLI BROTHERS are acoustic “guitar-stranglers” Bradfield Dumpleton & Luke Yates, connosseurs of quirk with a love of exotic guitar music from around the world - gypsy, eastern eurofolk, djangojazz, south americas, even momentary warps into hillbilly & circus music, delivered with the customary eloquence & humour required of these fine musics!

AN ANTHOLOGY OF REVISED AMBIGUITIES is their eagerly-awaited recording debut. Recorded live over two days at Huon Delta Studio in 2005, it has a sparkling sweetness that remains true to the acoustic integrity of the two guitars. 15 all original compositions, lush 8-page colour booklet. Carefully-crafted arrangements that offer new delights with each listen, taking familiar traditions from around the world and twisting them into new shapes.

“This duet perform sing and play in such a fresh and original manner that you are guaranteed to leave smiling and with your musical tastes and horizons stretched.”
(Anonymous respected Tasmanian guitar kahuna)

Particularly well-suited to discerning music appreciators & free-range chickens.
